Hi Everyone!
Well, it's been an extremely busy summer for us! So busy that we've had to put our prepared frozen meals on the back burner (so to speak) as our catering side of the business has taken off!
We will let you know when and if we will be selling them again. It'll probably be after Christmas.
This week, we catered to about 550 teachers in the Battle River School Division as they geared up for another year. We supplied muffins, coffee, juice and cookies...550 muffins and 1100 cookies! Lets just say the counters were overloaded around here!!

We're gearing up for our first year at Jaywalkers in Camrose. Keep an eye out for BBQ'd Chicken soft tacos, fruit salad and some fresh baking. No hamburgers at this joint!! Who said healthy can't taste great?!

Pre-Prairie Oven...a little history
Jared trained at SAIT in Calgary and went on to work as kitchen manager/head chef at Pelican Pier Seafood Bar for about 8 years. I was a university student and looking for a part-time job so I applied at the Pier for a serving position. Here comes the mushy part...that's where we fell in love and started throwing around ideas of one day opening up our own food establishment.
The year before we moved to Camrose, I decided to sell baked goods at the Grassroots Northland Farmers' Market. I called my first venture, The Cookie Counter. I think it was the second week that a lady stopped by and asked if I would be interested in supplying all of the Second Cup coffee shops in Calgary. What a huge compliment! Unfortunately, I had to turn the offer down as I was not equipped to handle that kind of quantity. By the end of the market's season, I was selling out and taking orders.
With our first entrepreneurial experience under our belts, we felt that Camrose would be the perfect place to put up shop. As the restaurant business is so high-risk, we decided that starting out as a catering company would be a great starting point and a way to slowly introduce our food to the locals. We've now been in business for 2 years and steadily gaining momentum!

Fabulous Chocolate Cake
We've had a couple of people ask us about the cake that you see above. It's a chocoholic's dream wedding cake that I made for my dear sister-in-law/brother-in-law (Steph & Todd) in 2007.

Up To My Elbows in Granola!
I'm in the middle of making a gigantic batch of our popular maple walnut granola. Somewhat tedious as it needs to be stirred every 10 minutes to keep it from burning...so worth it though!
Look forward to getting feedback on our food from people who've tried it...
